Those spectators not lucky enough to secure a ticket to any of the major show courts at the Wimbledon Championships must make do with a ground pass. It entitles them to wander around the outside courts, where at some point practically every player, bar the possible exception of the top five seeds, will play during the course of the two weeks.

They are among about 50,000 African asylum seekers living in Israel, mostly from Eritrea and Sudan. In December 2013, the Israeli Knesset added an amendment to the “Anti-Infiltration” law requiring asylum seekers from Eritrea and Sudan to be detained for at least a year and then placed indefinitely in an open detention center
