A Charles Frederick Worth historically-inspired voided velvet ball gown, 1885-1888
Tea gown, House of Rouff, Paris, ca. 1900. Ivory woven silk damask embroidered with glass, metal thread, and beads and purl. Decorated with chain-stitch embroidered net. From the back, a long pleat of lace drops from neck to hem in a style known as the Watteau pleat. Embroidered front panel probably made in India. Victoria & Albert Museum
