Analyzing the Roaring Twenties

This is a great primary resource activity for understanding the roaring twenties. Students will get into groups of four. Each of them will be assigned a role. The roles and directions are listed on this packet. Each of the groups will then receive one advertisement. I have included 8 advertisements in this packet. I usually print them out in color and place them in sheet protectors so I can reuse them every year. You can do this activity so many different ways. You can make it an hour long activity by just having the groups analyze one ad each or you can set up rotation stations and have all of the ads viewed. Kids love looking at the old ads and comparing them with todays advertisements! By the time they are finished they can really get a feel for what life was like in the twenties.
