I love this idea because students are always in the block area but usually have no clue what to build. Placing photos of local stores and buildings on the blocks is a great way to engage students in free play. This allows them to build their own community. With this, the teacher could also teach the compass rose and ask students where certain buildings are in relation to other buildings.
