Here’s the deal. Your RN is really good at this because they’ve done about 10,000 of them 😝 This is a great skill to learn, I love to teach it, and you should read the rest of the caption too.
Some RN tips:
- Swaddling isn’t a “straight jacket.” That little baby just came out of a crazy tight womb-space (that they loved), and a swaddle can make them feel safe and secure as they transition to the outside.
- Not every baby will want to be swaddled and/or some want a hand free. RNs default to hands down and in because the VAST majority of babies we care for do prefer this and settle.
