OC_Gallery - Diaspora - Eoin Mac Lochlainn' s solo show - Sept 13 to Oct 11 2015

"This new body of work is a reflection on Irish emigration in the 21st century. It is a series of paintings of abandoned fireplaces in derelict houses on the West coast of Ireland. It was inspired by a poem by Cathal Ó Searcaigh entitled: "Na Bailte Bánaithe", a poem about how spirits haunt the land, long after the people who lived there have gone..." – Eoin Mac Lochlainn. The show runs till 11th October 2015 at the Olivier Cornet Gallery, 3 Great Denmark Street (off Parnell Sq) Dublin 1.

The gipsy legacy in flamenco, what a fascinating subject, thanks to the Dublin Flamenco Festival for asking the gallery to host this presentation by the great Manuel Moraga. Thank you Manuel for introducing your presentation by mentioning Eoin Mac Lochlainn's show 'Diaspora' and drawing a parallel between the artist's work and with the plight of that people who left the Punjab many centuries ago, another diaspora...Manuel dedicated his presentation tonight to our brothers and sisters from Syria.
