French architect Jean Nouvel, one of the world’s most revered, has won 2008 the Tour De Verre competition launched by Hines and Goldman Sachs with this stealthy design. Rising up from the busy sidewalks of New York City, 75 floors of steel and glass takes shape directly from the zoning envelope, with an increasing site setback as it rises into the sky. Designed to withstand high winds, it is also equipped with wind turbines and solar panels in its uppermost triangle section.
