Kirkjubøur, Faroe Islands - adventure journal
If you drew lines between Iceland, Scotland, and Norway, you’d have a Scandinavian Triangle with the Faroe Islands right in the middle, floating in the Gulf Stream of the North Atlantic. It’s Viking territory, owned by Denmark but settled by Norwegians in the 8th century. The town of Kirkjubøur was one of the first settlements on the islands, and was the religious center for most of its history. Huts like this, with grass roofs, have been built there since the 11th century.
