Krystal Duran on Instagram: "Orchid are epiphytes. They grow on top of other plants and are not anchored in the soil. Epiphytes take up their nutrients from water, air, and debris around them.

Living in Indiana, fall and winter temperatures get less than 55 degrees consistently which would prevent us from being able to anchor orchids or other plants to trees so this will just have to do.

When choosing a board, choose one that is rot resistant. I used cork bark since it doesn’t rot but it’s also very easy to make holes in. It’s fairly plyable.

Hang in a spot that will get light, water the moss when it’s almost dry, and you can incorporate liquid orchid fertilizer in the water when blooms fall off.

Now we can live our orchid hanging dreams… inside 🌸

When we have really dense, fact-heavy episodes (don’t worry, they won’t all be like that!), we’ll supplement that with a blog post that covers the information we researched for the podcast. This is Matthew here, to talk about my favorite family of plants, Orchidaceae , the Orchids.

An orchid arrangement adds stunning beauty to any space in your house, whether it is in spotless white or one of the most breathtaking exotic colors. I enjoy putting orchids on display here at our home, especially in the summer. When purchased, orchid arrangements can be fairly expensive, but they are really simple to assemble yourself using your favorite container and store-bought orchid plants.
