The MN State gem: Beautiful Lake Superior Agates - found on both north (MN) and south (WI) shores of Lake Superior. - Agates are semi precious stones so common on Lake Superior beaches no one pays much attention.

I collected these rocks in about two minutes yesterday, as I was walking along a favourite stretch of Lake Superior. This beach runs for a mile or more, and is littered with rocks of every colour and size. It is worth a visit, even though it is a little out of the way, just to see these colourful and interesting stones that have been smoothed and polished over the centuries by the waves.
