The Canada lynx (Lynx canadensis) or Canadian lynx is a North American mammal of the cat family, Felidae. It is a close relative of the Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx). However, in some characteristics the Canada lynx is more like the bobcat (Lynx rufus) than the Eurasian Lynx. With the recognised subspecies, it ranges across Canada and into Alaska as well as some parts of the northern United States. With a relatively short body, small tail and long legs, the Canada lynx is one of the most adorable fluffs. They may look like a cousin of your housecat, but make no mistake — these boreal predators are pretty wild. The Canada lynx lives in forested areas and like making their dens underneath fallen trees, tree stumps, rock ledges or thick bushes. They are territorial animals, and males usually live alone.

The Canadian lynx is a true miracle of nature. Judge for yourself: this animal is twice as miniature as an ordinary lynx, while it has a huge amount of soft fluffy fur in which you want to drown. But the most remarkable feature of the Canadian lynx is its disproportionately massive and wide paws, which are so convenient to walk on deep snow. Well, just a winter fairy tale, not a pet!
