~ Equus ~ The Hot Bloods ~

The Middle East, Central Asia, and North Africa produced the most influential horses the world has known. The true progenitors, their ancient DNA is found in almost every extant riding horse breed. Along with their direct 17th century descendant, the thoroughbred, these are the hot bloods. Speed, endurance, spirit, and energy are their hallmark. Today, paradoxically, two of these breeds are in the top five most popular breeds in the world; yet two are actually endangered. One is already extinct.
