Astronomy Photo of the Day April 25th, 2013 This is an up-close look at the Tarantula nebula, also known as 30 Doradus or NGC 2070, a large celestial region that is located more than 170,000 light-years away, and we are currently seeing an upward hike in the number of stars that it is churning out. Interestingly, this is one of the brightest, most energetic nebulae of its type in the immediate vicinity of our home galaxy
