1985 - Do you remember when the Fairmount Hotel was moved to its current location at 401 S. Alamo St. It was built in 1906 on Commerce St. It was set to be demolished to make room for the Merriott River Center Hotel. The San Antonio Conservation Society arranged for it to be saved and moved. It holds the Guiness Book of World Records for being the heaviest building ever to be moved.
